Corvette Blue Devil Spy Photos
GM is not happy to see the Corvette Z06’s 500hp supercar power pouring from Europe. GM instead is working on a 600hp Z06 supercharged with carbon fiber components, as Autoweek reported in a recent interview. The curb weight of the Z06 is estimated at 2900 lbs. and a price tag starting at $100,000 the European competition should be breaking into a cold sweat as the Blue Devil seen here making laps around Germany’s NurbAfAE’A+aEUR(tm)AfaEURsA,A 1/4 rgring passes by.
Commentary:
The performance of this blue-clad devil will be jaw-dropping, but the worst part is the price. In terms of having a super car that is affordable for anyone, the price is the best. The downside is the lack of exclusivity and status that comes with an expensive super sports car. If you price it too low, the Blue Devil will not be able to shake its second-tier reputation. Bargains are only for the thrifty-minded, and supercars don’t have the luxury of bargains. While it is known that GM can build incredible cars of this caliber, the Blue Devil in these times of financial difficulties is a little inappropriate. GM needs to stop trying to shine a light on its models by creating an artificial halo effect with an affordable supercar. They should instead be more focused on anticipating consumer needs and making desirable products. This is not about selling more SUVs.
