The 2011 Mercedes C-Class leaked just in time for Christmas ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show.

The updated model is designed to capture the entry-level luxury spotlight. It features a new front fascia and aluminum hood as well as restyled headlights. The changes to the back are minor, but include a revised bumper as well as LED tail lights.

The exterior modifications are a bit questionable but the interior has been totally redesigned to match the EClass. The notable changes include a new dashboard and revised steering wheel (from CLS), updated controls and a redesigned instrument cluster. The cabin is no longer a sea made of black plastic thanks to the generous use of aluminum (or wooden) trim.

The tech department now offers five new options for driver assistance: Attention Assist and Adaptive Highbeam Assist. It also has Park Assist and Lane Keeping Assist.

Three engines will be offered in the United States under the hood. The biggest news is the addition to the 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder of 201 horsepower (204 PS/150kW) and 229lb-ft (312 Nm) of torque. The sedan can accelerate from 0-60 MPG in just 7.1 seconds and returns a combined 24 MPG. The C350 also has the new 3.5-liter V6. It produces 302 horsepower (225 kW/ 306 PS) as well as 273 lbft (370Nm) of torque.

The refreshed C-Class will launch in Europe next month, while sales in the USA are planned for the summer.
