You get more range with more kilowatt hours.
The Hyundai Infinitiq 5 in the US is equipped with a 72.6-kWh battery. According to a new report from South Korean website ET News, the brand will be upgrading to a 77.5-kWh pack for that market. The range could be increased by more than 10 percent.
According to rumours, Hyundai will increase the number 32 of its battery modules from the 30 in order to gain the additional capacity. According to the rumor, this would increase the Ioniq 5’s range on the South Korean market by 480 kilometers or 490 kilometers (or 298.3 or 304.5 mile) from the current 423 kilometers (268.2 mi) there.
According to this rumor, Hyundai will also launch an update for the Ioniq 5 over-the air. The vehicle-to-grip functionality will see the most significant improvements. The Korea Electric Power Corporation will permit owners to transmit electricity from their vehicle to the power grid starting next year.
Unspecified changes will be made to the electric vehicle’s integrated control system, drive assistance tech, suspension and airbags.
The Ioniq 5 is set to launch in the US. All will be equipped with the 77.4kWh battery pack. This is in contrast to the 58-kWh or 72.6-kWh layouts elsewhere. A single-motor rear-drive version will be available with 225 horsepower (168 Kilowatts) or 258 pound-feet (355 Newton-meters). A two-motor, all wheel-drive version will produce 320 horsepower (239 kW), and 446 lb-605 Nm.
Hyundai is targeting the rear-drive model with a range 300 miles (483 km). The distance is reduced to 269 miles (or 433 kilometers) by the all-wheel drive SE and SEL versions. On a single charge, the Limited AWD should travel 244 miles (393 km).
The Ioniq 5 will be initially sold by Hyundai in California, Connecticut, Maine and Maryland, Massachusetts. New York, New Jersey and Oregon are the only states that will sell it. Rhode Island, Vermont, Texas. Texas, Florida. Illinois. Georgia. North Carolina. Pennsylvania. Arizona. It will be available nationally in 2022.
