Mini design boss Oliver Heilmer stated that leather is not necessary in the future because it’s not sustainable. “We are 100% certain that we will be able to produce modern, high-value products with no leather.Mini could switch to vegan Leather, which is similar to what Tesla offers.

Heilmer also wants to eliminate leather from Minis. The seat fabric is made entirely of reclaimed materials and the lining beneath it is 70% recycled.

Heilmer also gave some details on the next generation Minis. Heilmer stated that the overall goal was to keep the Minis small and bring joy to the driver. Performance is also important.
