Ford and Shelby Automobiles have increased the number of units available for sale of their new Mustang GT500KR due to worldwide demand.
The Shelby GT500KR is so popular that many more will be found their way into collectors’ garages over the next year. After demand outstripped supply, Ford and Shelby Automobiles decided that an additional 746 units would be produced for the 2009 model. US buyers will receive 571 units in exchange for their top dollar. The production of the car started on January 11, 2008, when Carroll Shelby turned 85 years old.
GT500KR has a 5.4-litre supercharged, supercharged V8 in its bones. It makes a massive 540 horsepower. This is achieved using a short-throw shifter with racing suspension tuning and a racing-tuned steering wheel. Shelby said, “This car is very special to me and shows that Shelby Automobiles and Ford SVT can deliver a Mustang which will compete with the finest in the world.”
Shelby Automotive in Las Vegas receives the cars as standard Mustang GT500 Mustang cars. They undergo extensive chassis tuning, performance kit installation, and exterior modifications to get the cars exactly how they want them. GT500KR is so popular that a charity auction sold a rare one with a glass roof and all for USD550,000 It will be a K.I.T.T. debut so curiosity will only increase.
