Mitsubishi finally revealed the 2012 Mirage after months of speculation. It will debut in the first quarter of next year as an entry-level model.
After months of teasing, Mitsubishi finally revealed the 2012 Mirage at Tokyo Motor Show.
The Mirage was designed to “satisfy all the needs of people around the world”, and features a slim grille, aerodynamic wheel covers, and a spoiler mounted on the roof.
Designers adopted a “simple and clean” design philosophy inside, which aims at giving the cabin an airiness. Although the final result is not clear, it features a gloss black trim and metallic accents, as well as a cluster of sporty instruments.
The new 1.0-liter three cylinder engine is characterized by variable valve timing and an automatic start/stop system. Although performance specifications have not been released, Mitsubishi claims that the engine is connected with a continuously variable transmission. It is expected to average 30.0 km/liter (70.6 mpg US/84.7 mpg UK).
The 2012 Mirage will be launched in Thailand in March before it is sold worldwide in both emerging and developed markets.
