Ford has released the first images of the 2013 Mondeo ahead of its launch in early next year.
The Mondeo looks almost identical to the Fusion. It is distinguished by a monotone back fascia and restyled LED turn signals at the headlights. These similarities may be a concern to some, but they’re not surprising when you consider that both vehicles were built under the “One Ford”, strategy which aims to increase the commonality between American and European models.
The redesigned Mondeo will likely feature a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 179 horsepower (133 kW/ 181 PS) as well as 172 lbft (233 Nm). A 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 237 horsepower (177 kW/ 240 PS) can also be expected. It will produce 250 lbft (339Nm) of torque.
