We have received a new batch of images from our spies with the highly anticipated second-generation Audi R8.
The highly anticipated second generation Audi R8 has been sent to us by our spies.
The prototype was seen testing at Nurburgring, where Audi celebrates last weekend’s victory in the 24-hour endurance race. There is a large R8 logo on the grass to refer to the LMS ultra-winning car. Although the car was disguised, our spy team managed to capture a photograph of the left door panel. It looks quite different to the previous model. The vertical vent appears to be a feature.
The second-gen Audi R8 is expected to be released sometime next year. It will still feature the 4.2 V8 or 5.2 V10 naturally aspirated engines, but they will likely have a slight power increase. Expect the vehicle to lose around 130 lbs (59 kilograms) and feature a 12.3-inch digital customizable cluster of instrument clusters sourced from 2014 TT.
It will keep the quattro all wheel drive system, but it will also be offered later in its life with a smaller turbocharged motor that works as well as other motors and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
Audi is likely to show the updated R8 before the year ends. Sales are expected to begin in 2015.
