2022 Buick Encore Base Trim – Dropped

Buick’s SUV lineup looks a bit messy at the moment. The Encore or Encore are options for a compact crossover. The is the more appealing and modern. The second-generation Encore ( is pictured below will soon be available in the United States. It offers a more modern and appealing alternative.

The new crossover will be offered in a single trim level when it hits North American showrooms for the 2022 model-year. After the 2021 model year the base Encore will be discontinued. The Encore Preferred will remain the only available grade in Canada and the US.

GM Authority states that the 2022 Encore will come in both FWD or AWD versions. The new model will offer front-wheel-drive and all wheel-drive options for Preferred models, unlike the first-generation model which only offered a front-wheel drive in the entry-level trim.

General Motors will bring the second-generation Encore to the US in the latter part of this year. The new crossover uses a completely different architecture and a different engine than its predecessor. GM claims the 1.3-liter turbo engine with 153 horsepower will provide better efficiency and be more responsive to load.

The Encore lineup has been simplified for the model year 2021. The four previous trim levels have been reduced to the base Encore and Encore Preferred. The prices are unchanged from 2020, with the base model starting at $24,195 and the Preferred in AWD configuration starting at $26,215. It will be interesting to see if the Encore 2nd-generation arrives with an increase in price.
