Blackout Edition for the BMW X3 in Japan

Blackout Edition for the BMW X3 in Japan
BMW Japan has created another Celebration Edition. This time, it’s an all black X3.

If you haven’t been living under a rock the past few months you will know that BMW celebrates its centenary in this year. Bavarians have created a variety of special editions for this occasion. Most of them will be heading to Japan. The X3 will now receive a Celebration Edition after the limited-run editions were sold out of the 2 Series Active Tourer and 330e, i3, i8, i6 Coupe, 7 Series, and 330e. It’s called X3 BLACKOUT, and it is basically an all-black version the SAV in xDrive20d guise. BMW Japan has equipped the crossover with an M Sport package, and all 200 units that are planned to be produced will be in Sapphire Black. The 18-inch alloy wheels are also painted in the same color, while the kidney grille keeps the car’s dark theme.

The cabin is wrapped in black Nevada leather, and the Ansorajitto headliner is from the BMW Individual catalog. A Japanese division of the company will also include a custom-made leather key case and a fancy audio system with nine speakers. To remind you that this is not your average X3, the mandatory special badges are also included. Based on the xDrive20d, the engine is a turbodiesel 2.0 liter that produces 184 horsepower (135 kilowatts), and 280 pound feet (380 newton meters) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is responsible for sending the output to both wheels. It can run 0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 8.1 seconds, and reach a top speed 130 mph (210 km/h). BMW Japan will begin accepting orders for the x3 BLACKOUT starting August 6. Customers will be charged Y=6,980,000 (about $67,850), which is about $2,620 more than an X3 xDrive20d Sport in JDM specification.
