You can now set your watch to the time the Atlantic teasers arrive. We don’t yet know much about the vehicle. Rumours claim that Ferdinand Piech, former Chairman of Volkswagen Group, commissioned this one-off creation at a reported $18 million.
Bugatti created four original Type 57 SC Atlantic examples between 1936 and 1938. Three are still in existence today and one has been lost. The company now subtly positions this revived example to make history right, by making sure there are still four Atlantics. The automaker says that Jean Bugatti’s 57 SC Atlantic can not be recreated. But what do you think? Is it possible to translate its design language into 21st-century technology?
The Type 57 SC Atlantic originals are extremely valuable and can be traded for around $30,000,000 at an auction when they are available.

The original Atlantic’s design dictated that the new Atlantic should have a longer hood that leads to a teardrop-shaped compartment. This indicates that the engine is likely to be in front of the occupants rather than behind them as on most Bugatti’s modern products. The Chiron’s quad-turbo W16 8.-liter engine would drive only the rear wheels if it was retained by engineers.
