Both models are production models. The PHEV will go on sale later in the year.
Buick will soon release a pair production models following yesterday’s unveiling the Enspire Concept. They are both called Velite 6. One is a plug in hybrid, while the other is fully electric. The one on the right does not have a combustion engine, and the fuel cap is on the rear fender.
The plug-in hybrid version of the ICE has a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with naturally aspirated power. It is combined with two electric motors and a battery pack that gives the partially electrified Velite a range of 700 km (435 miles). The combined cycle’s fuel consumption is remarkably low at just 1.4 liters per 100 km. This works out at 168 miles per gallon. However, the way the cars were tested in China and the United States makes it difficult to convert.
The plug-in hybrid Velite 6 offers several driving modes. It allows the owner to choose between the power of the combustion engine and the punch provided by the electric motors or their combined efforts.
Details about the pure electric version are not available at this time. Buick claims it has a new-generation powertrain, which will offer customers a smooth, quiet, and natural driving experience. The entirely electric Velite 6 can be accessed via the owner’s smartphone, acting as a virtual key for entering and starting the car.
The plug-in hybrid will go on sale first in China, while the EV is expected to follow at a later time.
