California Close Test of Mercedes EQS SUV

It will be available later in the year.

Every Mercedes-Benz electric car will eventually have an SUV counterpart, just like the conventional Mercedes-Benz cars. The EQS, the Stuttgart-based company’s most advanced EV, will soon become a high-riding EQS SUV. It has been tested on numerous occasions. A new video shows it in action on a South California parking lot.

It appears that Mercedes is simultaneously testing the EQS SUV at different locations. In December , a different test vehicle was seen in the Arctic Circle. The new model is not visible under camouflage. However, we do get a quick view inside the cabin. The cabin is still heavily camouflaged for now.

California Close Test of Mercedes EQS SUV

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS EQS SUV concept was revealed in September 2013. It showed the final design for the EQS SUV. However, it is a more refined showcar version. We can see the inspiration in the study’s sleek headlights as well as the large front fascia. However, we doubt that the production electric SUV will feature the same ornamented grille-like panel.

The EQS joins the EQA, EQB and EQC already built on modified platforms for combustion car engines. From 2022, the range-extending EV SUV will also be built in the USA at the Tuscaloosa facility. Maybach will have its own version, with a more luxurious cabin. This is heavily inspired by the Maybach EQS UAV concept.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any information about the powertrain. We can only speculate at the moment, but we will stick with facts. Mercedes has only confirmed that the range between charges could be as high as 373 miles (600 km) depending on which configuration.
