Although it is an early test mule this vehicle already has a new steering wheel as well as a few other modifications.
Mercedes has been testing the facelifted C Class for several weeks, but our spy photographers only recently managed to get a few photos of the interior. The biggest change was the introduction of a three-spoke steering knob. However, the central display between the cluster dials seems to be slightly wider than before.
A few modifications have also been made to the center console. The screen’s framing has gone black, and the analog clock appears to have been removed. Mercedes also reconfigured the touchpad, which is now located right below the COMAND rotary knob for a cleaner appearance.
The exterior of the prototypes was camouflaged only on the front bumper. Mercedes will release evolved cars later in the testing phase that incorporate more production bits, much like it did with the facelifted S Class, which initially looked a lot like the current model before getting more body parts.
For the C-Class’ mid-cycle refresh of the C-Class, modifications to the front and rear bumpers will be made along with updated graphics for headlights/taillights. There may also be new alloy wheel designs and additional colors.
The C-Class will be equipped with Mercedes’ new modular engines. This includes inline-six unit. These units will make their debut next season in the facelifted S-Class, where they will replace the V6s. Mercedes-AMG is still considering a range-topping Black Series version. If approved, it will likely be made available for the coupe body type, similar to the C63 Black Series.
The mildly updated C-Class Sedan will be available in the second half of next year or early 2018 with other body styles expected to follow shortly.
