Chicago Subtle Facelift for 2020 Toyota Tacoma

You might also notice the new technology in the cabin if you look closely.

The Chicago Auto Show will not only feature the Sequoia TRD Pro, but also the most popular Toyota Tacoma pickup. The majority of the changes to the cabin are subtle and you might not be able notice them immediately. There are some exterior cues that will help distinguish the truck for 2020.

All six Tacoma grades receive a new grille or new wheels. The SR5 model gets 16-inch Dark Satin wheels with darker taillight housings. TRD Sport trim gains 17-inch wheels and LED headlights. TRD Offroad models have a new grille, available LED headlights and LED lamps with chrome inserts. The Tacoma Limited has a new grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, standard LED running lights, and standard LED headlights.

The TRD Pro model, which is geared towards off-roading, sees the most changes. The segment’s first sequential LED headlights are now available. The new 16-inch wheels and black inserts in the taillights complete the aggressive look. A new paint job in Army Green is available for 2019, which joins other colors such as Super White, Midnight Black Metallic and Magnetic Grey Metallic.

The TRD Pro comes standard with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Also, the multimedia display is updated with an eight-inch touchscreen. All Tacoma trims now have the eight-inch touchscreen, which features better graphics and, for the first time ever, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The majority of Tacoma grades get a power adjustable driver’s seat for the first-time. All trims come standard with Toyota Safety Sense P, which includes pedestrian detection, pre-collision warning and lane departure warning. The Tacoma can tow 6,800 pounds (3.084 kg) depending on which trim it is.

2020 will see the same engine options. The base 2.7-liter four cylinder produces 159 horsepower (118kilowatts), and 180 poundfeet (244 Newton meters) of torque. Or, the larger 3.5 liter V6 produces 278 horsepower (359 Newton-meters). The V6 engine is available with a six speed automatic.
