DeLorean would make people wait until August 18th.
Since April 1, DeLorean has not revealed much about the car in its teaser campaign. It wasn’t expected to be revealed until the August 18 Pebble Beach debut, but DeLorean moved it up to this month. DeLorean’s new EVolved covers will be available on May 31. The announcement was made by DeLorean Motor Company last week via Twitter.
The tweet revealed that fans couldn’t contain their excitement. Fans couldn’t wait for the DeLorean to debut in August, so they demanded it be announced sooner. They were granted their request.
Italdesign designed the EVolved’s design. It is curvier than the DMC-12 of the 1980s. Although we don’t know how much inspiration the new model will have, the EVolved should sport a completely unique styling. The iconic gullwing doors from the original will be a feature of the new model. Although we don’t know much about the powertrain, its name gives a hint as to what it will be.
An earlier teaser showed that the DeLorean would come with louvers on the back windows. This is exactly the same as the original. Another teaser showcased the car’s rear LED light bar that extends across the back and covers the wheel arches.
We hope DeLorean will continue the teaser campaign for the car, as we want to see as much as possible before the official debut at end of month. It is not clear if there will be multiple DeLorean models debut simultaneously. The company announced in April that it would reveal multiple DeLorean models based on decades, including 1990, 2000 and 2010, before unveiling the 2023 DeLorean.
Joost de Vries, CEO of DeLorean, said that we would be able to see 40 years worth of history in 90 days. This was just a few weeks before the unveil. DeLorean has only three weeks to make it happen and we are eager to see all variants. It is thrilling to see a new DeLorean after four decades. This car is a cultural icon in America thanks to The Back to the Future.
