It also sounds sexist.
Motor1.com editor Brett T. Evans had the chance to capture this short video of the Ford F-150 Raptor R digging in the desert. You can also hear the V8 engine of this muscle truck.
This video is only 13 seconds long and doesn’t offer much insight into the Raptor R. However, it does show the truck’s design, which matches spy shots taken during its development. It looks almost identical to the Raptor. The grille is hidden by an R badge in previous photos.
Raptor R has a V8 under its hood. It could be a modified of the supercharged V8 from the Mustang Shelby GT500. According to reports, the detuned powerplant can produce between 725 horsepower and 750 horsepower (541 kilowatts and 559 kilowatts). This configuration would provide a significant performance improvement over the Raptor’s standard twin-turbo V6 3.5-liter making 450 horsepower (336 kW) or 510 pound-feet (691 Newton meters) of torque.
It is not clear what the Raptor R’s gearbox looks like. The truck could be using either a 10-speed manual or the seven speed dual-clutch transmission of the Shelby GT500.
The Raptor R’s rear suspension appears to be different from the regular performance pickup in spy shots. Upgraded trailing arms are among the modifications. We may be missing other improvements. According to some reports, the improvements include a new wheel and tire package.
Although the F-150 Raptor R’s debut date is not yet known, Ford is willing to test drive one before a Motor1.com editor. It’s possible that the truck will be available in showrooms by the end of the year.
The Raptor R’s pricing is unknown at this time. It will likely be more expensive than the standard Raptor which starts at $71,700, after paying $1,795 for the 2022 model-year destination fee.
