No roof. No doors. No windshield. No problem.
Remember that incredibly cool Ford Raptor Bus? It turns out that the Econoline-based 6×6 beast isn’t the only one built by the Sankt Petersburg shop, which specializes in all things Blue Oval. We looked deeper into Ford Market’s Instagram account to find this amazing contraption: a Focus speedster.
The car is a speedster in every sense of the term, as it has gotten rid of the windshield and roof. It doesn’t even come with doors. Rear seats were also removed. The reworked rear end now includes two humps that remind us of more expensive speedsters. McLaren Elva Ferrari Monza SP2. It’s a stunning build, and one you would expect to see at SEMA. But then, Ford doesn’t sell the Focus Mk4 in America… The interior design is amazing, as is the exterior. The Mk3 was used as a template and the interior has been modified. The central air vents have been removed and some of the switchgear has been replaced.
The Ford Focus speedster first appeared at the St. Petersburg International Motor Show more than a decade ago, but we only recently discovered the roofless Focus ST–Line. While the current-gen compact model does not have a convertible version like its predecessor, the Mk2 had a folding metal roof.
This quirky Focus reminds us of another Ford in similar spirit. Pininfarina’s StreetKa is a small convertible that measures just a pint. It has a manual folding fabric roof and a removable hardtop. A new Ford droptop Ford is unlikely, as customer preferences continue to shift to SUVs. However, the aftermarket can still build you something that the OEM will not.
