Ford GT was unveiled with the new twin-turbo EcoBoost engine that produces more than 600 horsepower. The Ford GT is one of Detroit’s most iconic cars. A production version of the Ford GT will be available in 2016, so it’s more than just a show car. It features a design reminiscent of the original model but brought up to current standards suitable for what Ford is describing as an “ultra-high-performance supercar.”
It is attractive and aerodynamically optimized for drag reduction to generate more downforce. Two-seater GT has upward-swinging doors that allow access to the passenger cell made of carbon fiber. At the back, there is an active spoiler that can be adjusted depending on road conditions. Ford engineers have covered the front and rear of the GT with aluminum subframes. All these lightweight measures will enable the GT to exhibit one of the highest power-to-weight ratios of any production vehicle.
The supercar’s twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost engine is mid-mounted and produces more than 600 horsepower (447 kW). It connects to the rear 20-inch wheels with specially designed Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tyres through a dual-clutch 7-speed transaxle transmission that can provide “nearly instantaneous gear changes.” You will find an F1-inspired steering column, a digitally configurable cluster of instruments and Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system inside this simple but functional cabin. Ford GT, the all-new Ford GT, is scheduled to go into production in the second half of next year
