The i30 N has most of the same features as the i30 N, but it doesn’t have any extra power.
You can now trick your friends into thinking you bought Hyundai’s N fast car without paying the premium. The new i30 N Line is available in Europe this summer. It takes styling cues of the hotter model and combines it with the engines from the regular five-door hatchback. The new i30 flavor comes with 18-inch wheels and sportier rear and front bumpers.
To further indicate that this is not your average i30, the back of the car has a dual exhaust tip arrangement. To complete the exterior visual changes, there’s a “N Line” badge at the front fender. The cabin also features N-branded sport seats that offer better lateral support. Hyundai will include a set metal pedals, a sport steering wheel in perforated leather and a new gearshift knob with the N logo.
Hyundai has done more than add sporty bits to the regular Hyundai i30. It also made some engineering tweaks. The N Line model has a more responsive engine and a revised suspension to make it a little sharper. The car is equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, and has 16-inch front brakes instead of the standard 15-inch set.
The turbocharged 1.4-liter gasoline or diesel engines will be available to buyers. The first produces 138 horsepower and 242 Newton meters (178 pound-feet), while the second generates 134 HP and 280 Nm (206lb-ft) and 300 Nm (221lb-ft), respectively, with the dual-clutch auto transmission. Although these output numbers are far less than the i30 N’s 271 hp (260 lbft) and 352 Nm (353 lbft), the N Line will still be significantly cheaper
Hyundai will follow the i30 N Line with other visually enhanced models, in a similar strategy to that used by sister brand Kia for a few decades with its GT Line cars.
