Lamborghini sceptics should look away, because this twin-turbo LS Swapped Huracan Lamborghini is far from a stock Lamborghini. Chris Steinbacher, a Youtuber who runs the B Is for Build channel, created this wild Huracan for SEMA 2019. He’s now ready to tune it.
The stock Huracan‘s sweet, high-revving 5.2-liter V10 is no longer available to Chris. However, the Texas Speed-built LS V8 is a great replacement. This twin-turbo V8 can produce serious power. Chris has set a goal to produce around 1500 peak horsepower. This is a high number for such an intricate build.
A LS swap is a common feature in any vehicle, from a Mazda Miata or a Porsche 911. However, a Lamborghini with an LS swap is a rare combination. A Lamborghini’s main selling point is its V10, but Chris’ Lamborghini purchase was different. Chris bought a Huracan that had suffered extensive fire damage due to a twin-turbo engine kit failure.
Chris was able purchase the Huracan, but needed to start with a brand new engine because the stock engine was not usable. It was cheaper and more interesting to buy an LS V8 than to purchase a new V10. Chris was able mount the LS V8 from a Gallardo to a manual transmission, making it the only LS-powered Huracan manual transmission.
There are always complications when building something this complicated. The Huracan’s starter motor died, the ECU was having issues and the exhaust manifolds were unable to withstand the heat during the Dyno Tuning session. These are critical parts of building something new.
Although it is not easy to construct a one-of-one build like this, the end result promises to be amazing. A flame-spitting, manual transmission, LS Swapped Huracan? Sign us up!
