Lexus has released detailed specifications for the CT200h.
The hybrid hatchback will go on sale in the first quarter of next year. It features L finesse styling, a roof spoiler, 17-inch alloy tires, and LED headlights.
The cabin has an 8-inch LCD display, metallic accents, and soft touch materials. Lexus also installed bioplastic components to the dashboard and “bamboo charcoal-based resin speaker diaphragms” to ease environmentalists’ minds.
The engine is powered by a 98 horsepower (73 kW/ 99 PS) 1.8L VVT-i petrol engine, and an electric motor of 80 hp (62/82 PS). The combined power output of the engine and motor is 134 horsepower (100 kW/136 PS). This hybrid has an estimated EPA fuel efficiency rating of 42 mpg. However, acceleration is slow at 0-60 mph in 9.8 seconds. The top speed is 112 mph (182 km/h).
A four-mode drive selection switch is available on the car, allowing owners to choose between efficiency and performance. Sport mode reduces the impact of safety nannies (stability/traction control), while Eco mode slows throttle inputs, and the air conditioner. Normal mode is the default setting. EV mode allows the CT 200h, at speeds of up to 28 mph (45 km/h), to travel up one mile without emitting any emissions.
