The entry-level model will be the GS 350.
Although the Lexus GS is still considered to be the flagship model of the Japanese luxury automaker, that could soon change. Last year’s report revealed that the company is taking a strategic look at the IS, GS sedans. This suggests that both could be in danger of being discontinued. The 2020 model year will not see this, but the GS model range will be simplified.
A spokesperson for Lexus confirmed to that the base GS 300 model would be discontinued following the 2019 model year. This will mean that the sedan will be left with only two models: the GS 350 and performance GS F.
According to Alissa Moceri, a Lexus spokesperson, “The GS 300 was a small portion of GS sales in 2018,” she confirmed to our source. “We are always evaluating model combinations throughout our lineup.”
The base price for the GS 350 will increase to $52,420 in 2020. While the GS F will go up to $86,035, the GS F will cost $86,035. This is a $4,535 price increase over the 2019 model year. The GS 300 will still be available at $47.885 and the GS 350 at $86,035. Lexus’ GS will continue to target midsize sport sedan buyers looking for thrilling performance, luxurious luxury, and top-quality quality.
It will be interesting for us to see if the GS, which was introduced in 2011 in its current version, will continue in its current form after 2020. Although nothing has been confirmed, the company will spend money on research and development to create new vehicles that consumers like and will purchase. The future of this luxury sedan is not looking bright, despite sales figures in the hundreds for 2017, 2018, and 2019,.
