The Marketplace is offering a limited-edition Lotus Esprit Turbo GC for sale. This Lotus Esprit Turbo GC is considered a ‘holy grail” example.
To celebrate 21 years Lotus production, only 21 were made. This Lotus Esprit Turbo HC was number 10. It is also one of five that are finished in the two-tone “Essex Blue”.
It left Hethel on the 27th Feb 1987 and was sold by the Norfolk Motor Company, Norwich to Corby. The car spent 14 years in Portugal before being sold new by the Norfolk Motor Company in Norwich to a Corby firm in 2018. Since April last year, it was kept by an Esprit enthusiast.
The car returned to the U.K. on April 2018 and has been with an Esprit enthusiast ever since. The car was originally intended to be the “forever vehicle” of its owner and received extensive recommissioning at a cost of over PS10,000 (roughly $12,500).
It is in great condition with excellent paintwork and the original interior trim intact. The car has only 54,600 miles (87.870 kilometers) on its clock. The car comes with a two-tone briefcase, factory toolkit and three-piece wheelset luggage. This luggage includes a Concorde luggage tag. It is also finished in the same materials as its interior.
Tristan Judge, Director at The Market, stated that “This Lotus Esprit Turbo HC in astonishingly good condition – one the best, if no, the best example of its kind,”. It is a rare car in exceptional condition and will make a great addition to any classic car collection. These rare models are a ‘Holy Grail’ in any Lotus collection.
Collectors will love this limited edition car. It has all the original extras you would expect. These items have been with the car since 1987, which is an important indicator of how well it was preserved over the past 33 year.
Expect the Lotus to fetch between PS40,000 and PS50,000 (49,800 to $62.200). The auction will close Monday, April 13.
