MINI WRC will compete in six of the 13 World Rally Championship rounds next year, and fully in the 2012 season.
MINI today introduced the MINI WRC model at Paris Motor Show.
MINI WRC’s new MINI is more than a showpiece. MINI will be competing in the World Rally Championship next season (2011).
The MINI WRC will be dressed in the shell of a MINI Countryman and feature a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine. MINI started work on the WRC entry in 2009, and it recently completed race conditions testing at Prodrive.
“The current generation of MINI customers has a huge interest in motorsport. MINI brand management chief Dr. Wolfgang Armbrecht stated that the MINI WRC provides a great communications platform for MINI Countryman.
MINI WRC will participate in six of the 13 rounds of 2011 World Rally Championship. MINI intends to compete fully in the 2012 season.
Kris Meeke from the U.K. was named one of the drivers in the 2011 season.
