The changes Genesis’ flagship underwent are not just a facelift.
These live images and official photos might make you think this car is brand new. The Genesis G90 underneath the updated skin is still the Hyundai Equus. The massively redesigned full-size luxury sedan is now available in South Korea. It has a more attractive design than the one it replaces.
These changes are obvious from the front, where the grille in the shape of a diamond has been increased. The air vents at bottom of bumper are wider and meet almost in the middle. The G90’s chunky four-point headlights have a distinctive look thanks to the strip that runs into the front fender. The hood has been modified by adding two more creases to the middle. These creases are located at the bottom windscreen and end at Genesis’ wings emblem.
The G90’s rear has seen more changes. It is virtually identical to the model it replaces. Full-width taillights are becoming more popular these days. Genesis has decided to embrace this trend and replace the boring vertical clusters with new, bolder ones. To make space for the “Genesis”, lettering that will replace the company’s badge, the upper row of lights is shorter.
The exterior changes include the move of the turn signals from the side mirrors onto the front fenders. There is also a new design for the 19 inch alloy wheels and exhaust finishers at back.

The exterior has been largely reworked but Genesis chose to mostly carry over the interior. The G90’s exterior is unchanged, but the interior has been largely preserved. We do notice that the central air vents flanking an analog clock are smaller than they were before. You can expect new upholstery options and trim options as well as an updated range of safety and infotainment technology.
The KDM-spec model, which is a local version of the V6 and V8 naturally aspirated models with the twin-turbo V6 engine, has oily bits. It can be found on the local website.
For a complete release on the technical specifications of Genesis’ updated range topper, we will have to wait.
