Subaru’s stunning new All-Wheel Drive Impreza World Rally Car 2008 has been unveiled. It will make its debut at the monthaEUR(tm), Acropolis Rally in Greece.
Subaru has completed the Subaru Impreza World Rally Car 2008’s final touches. The car will debut its World Rally Championships (WRC), at the Acropolis Rally in Greece (starts on May 29), round 7 of the WRC calendar.
Subaru Impreza WRC2008, which is based on the highly successful Subaru Impreza STI, will be piloted and driven by Chris Atkinson from Australia and Norwegian Petter Solberg. Subaru’s first use of a hatchback model for their WRC representative is a first. Subaru has painted the WRC car with a bold new color scheme that is still blue.
The 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four cylinder boxer engine produces 224 kW and 300 hp in the new WRC 2008. It also has a longer wheelbase, shorter front and rear overhangs and a lower center of gravity than its predecessor.
Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT), hopes to recall its glory days in the mid nineties, when they won three consecutive manufacturers titles (1995-96 and 97).
