Walker was killed in a car accident in 2013.
Paramount Network and Network Entertainment announced earlier this year that they are working together on a documentary about the tragic life and death of Fast & Furious movie franchise Paul Walker. According to CNN, the film, I am Paul Walker will finally debut next month on August 11.
“We are delighted to continue our collaborations with Paramount Network regarding the I Am series,” stated Executive Producer Paul Gertz of Network Entertainment, who was also the President and C.O.O. when the documentary was first announced. “This engaging documentary about Paul Walker’s life and legacy is a great way to kick off our newly announced four-picture slate on Paramount Network.”
Interviews with cast-mates will be featured in the documentary. They will discuss not only his movie career but also his passion for marine life and his humanitarian efforts in Haiti following the devastating earthquake. Family footage will be included as well.
Walker was well-known for his large car collection. In 2013, Walker died in a car accident when the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that he was riding in collided with a light pole. The car burst into flames in Santa Clarita. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Porsche was travelling between 80 and 93 mph at the time of the accident. Roger Rodas was also the driver.
Walker’s acting career started on the big screen, with films such as Pleasantville and Varsity Blues. He also appeared in She’s All That!, The Skulls and Joyride. Walker had 42 credits by the time he died at 40. His most well-known and enduring role was that of Brian O’Conner, in the Fast and Furiousfranchise.
The documentary was directed by Adrian Buitenhuisi. He’s also directed films on Heath Ledger and Chris Farley. Network Entertainment has previously released films about JFK Jr. and Muhammad Ali.
