Carlos Tavares, Renault CEO, has made clear his intention to transform Gordini models in the “ultimate track-focused vehicle.”
Although the Gordini name was used on Twingo, Wind models that had only special paint jobs, Tavares intends to limit the use of the Badging to cars that have racing pedigrees. Gordini will now be seen as an extreme Renaultsport version.
Tavares stated that “Renaultsport models would be sporty, and Gordini would be a step above.” He said that a Gordini would only be sold as a derivative from a special track car.
For those who are not familiar, Gordini was an F1 team that was successful in the 1950s. Renault acquired it in 1969.
