Unexpected company is interested in being a part of the action
Midway through the second U.S. Championship at Circuit of The Americas was the big yellow school bus driving straight into turn six of race track. This caused the red flag be flown. The full grid of F4 cars had to pit but the bus was directed quickly to a spot near the circuit officials.
The incident resulted in no injuries and there was no contact between bus and race car. Jalopnik reported the Formula 4 U.S. Championship would end at 7 p.m. in local time. The confusion may have been caused by miscommunication, considering that the bus was already on the track at the time.
These school buses also serve as guides for marshals and provide tours of the track. Jalopnik guessed that the bus driver may have thought it was time for everyone to be picked up from the marshal stands around the track.
This bizarre, but hilarious, incident left only 10 minutes to race and Benjamin Pedersen took the pole position.
