Volkswagen Polo R version due in 2012

The Polo R will be equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine of around 210 horsepower (156 kW). Due to Polo’s PQ25 platform, the model won’t be an all-wheel drive model like the Golf R.

Now that VW has an R Division it’s unlikely they’ll limit their offerings to the Scirocco R and Golf R models.

Autocar reports that VW will produce an R version for the Polo in 2012. The engine will be a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol/gasoline motor that produces around 210 horsepower (156 kW). It will not have an all-wheel drive, unlike the Golf R. This is because the Polo’s PQ25 platform doesn’t allow it.
