Debut at AIMS
We are still waiting for the English translation of today’s press release, but we can tell you about the ‘generous ‘power increase’ of the Touareg R50 compared to its original model. The 5.0 liter V10-TDI has 37 horsepower more. We published the teaser last week. VW claimed that the R50 would have 350 horsepower. However, there are many who can beat the R50 in its own horsepower race (ie Cayenne Turbo and G55).
The Touareg R50’s V10 TDI diesel engine produces 258 kW/350 hp at 3500 rpm and 850 Nm torque at 2000 rpm. This engine has 37 hp more power than the regular V10 TDI, which gives it a sprint time of 6,7 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed at 235 km/h. For combined driving conditions, fuel consumption is 12,6 liter/100 km and 9,6 Liter/100 km for highway driving.
Volkswagen Individual has created some new parts to the Touareg R50 interior and exterior. Start with 21-inch wheels, black brake discs, widened wheel arches and bumpers, and a modified grille in chrome and matte finish. Biscay Blue paint is exclusive to the R50. The VW R-range is well-known for its blue color. However, the R50 will also come in Campanella White and Reflex Silver as well as Black Magic, Atacam Grey, and Black Magic.
The SUV’s suspension has been updated to drop 20mm. If you change the Tiptronic six-speed automatic transmission to sport mode, the suspension will stiffen to give it a more sporty ride. You will find the required badges on the headrests, door frames and inside the doors. The instrument and center console get the ” engine spin hell” treatment. This is the same treatment that the R36 received.
