BMW has revealed the first details of the facelifted 2011 X5.

The New York Auto Show will see the debut of the X5 with new bumpers, additional color accents, revised wheels and new headlights.

The only thing that has changed inside is the addition of a new iDrive with a 6.5 inch display. An 8.8-inch display option will be available. BMW has added new equipment to its lineup despite the fact that there have been no updates. The tech side of the X5 includes a head-up display and adaptive cornering headlights. High-beam assistant, park distance controller, park distance control, a reversing cam, active cruise control (with a lane departure warning system), a stop & start, a lane departure alert system and a speed limit information screen.

The 3.0-liter Inline-six engine is now replaced by the turbocharged 3.0-liter Inline-six (dubbed N55). It produces 225kW (306 PS/302 hp), and 400 Nm torque. The crossover can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds before reaching 235 km/h (146 km/h). The N55 gives the X5 a fuel consumption of 10.1 liters/100 km (23 mpg US) with a C02 emissions rating 236 g/km.

The X5 xDrive50i features a 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 instead of a naturally-aspirated 4.8 liter V8, which produces 300 kW (408 PS / 402 hp) as well as 400 Nm torque. The X5 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The X5 consumes an average 12.5 liters/100 km (19 mpg US) while emitting 292 grams CO2 per kilometer.

BMW will offer two 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engines for diesel. The X5 xDrive40d engine produces 225 kW (306 PS / 302. hp) and 600 Nm torque. The engine can travel from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds, and it has a maximum speed of 236 km/h (147 km/h). The average fuel consumption is 7.5 liters/100 km (31 mpg US), and CO2 emissions are 198 g/km. The X5 xDrive30d engine produces 180 kW (245 PS / 241 hp), and 540 Nm torque. The oil-burner can accelerate from 0-100 km/h to 222 km/h (138 km/h) in 7.6 seconds. It is also the most efficient engine. It consumes 7.4 liters/100 km (32 mpg US) on average and emits 195 grams CO2 per kilometer.

For “outstanding shifting dynamics and optimized effectiveness, as well as the greatest degree of comfort,” all engines will be supported by an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Performance tweaks include a more neutral xDrive (all wheel drive system), revised spring and damper settings for the xDrive50i, and a new speed-dependent Servotronic driving system.

The 2011 X5 will soon be available in the USA, shortly after its unveiling in April. Sales in Germany and the UK will begin on June 5th. Prices will start at PS43,980, and EUR54,200 respectively.
