1000-HP 911 Turbo S Drag Racing Ferrari F8 Tributo Should be Easy Win

It is not.

The Ferrari F8 Tributo is a powerful machine with its twin-turbocharged, 3.9-liter V8. It has 710 horsepower (or 529 kilowatts) as well as a seven-speed automatic transmission that can reach 60 mph in less than three seconds. It can also turn a quarter-mile of under 10 seconds. It’s stock for stock, it’s a close match to the Porsche 911 Turbo. This 911 Turbo S is not stock.

This DragTimes video features the battle between a 991.2 Turbo S and a stock Ferrari. This video explains that the 911 comes with an ES850 package by AIM Performance. This Turbo S produces 900 horsepower (671 kW) which translates into more 1,000 HP (746 kW) of power. This Porsche is an all-wheel-drive beast. Although the Ferrari F8 Tributo isn’t a slouch it’s still a formidable hypercar contender. This explains why it won its first race against Porsche. Wait, what?

We’re admitting that we are being a little dramatic. The Ferrari driver received a jump from the line in a gesture of goodwill. Drag Racing 101 states don’t give a 700-hp Ferrari an edge unless you drive a Top Fuel dragster with an afterburner. A slight advantage is all that’s needed to win. Although the Porsche had a quicker elapsed speed of 10.2 than the Ferrari’s, it is only one-tenth the difference despite the huge power difference. Bravo, Ferrari.

Ferrari was not so lucky in the second race. The Ferrari driver was asleep at the finish line, and the Porsche didn’t show any mercy. It made a.082 response time. The 911 was able to sprint several car lengths ahead of the F8 Tributo, before it even started moving. The Porsche then accelerated forward to a 9.98 second pass at 145 mph. Ferrari came in second with 10.45 at 135 MPH.

Both drivers launched at the same moment in the final race. The race was a true showcase of each car, and although the 911 won the race, it didn’t win the usual shellacking that you would expect from a car with 300 horsepower (224kW) more power. Turbo S was able to finish with 10.05 seconds at 144 mph, while the F8 had 10.33 seconds at 137.7 mph. It was a good showing from Ferrari. It’s not bad at all.
