1929 Ford Model A is Abandoned for Eight Years, Gets its First Wash

It’s actually a custom tractor that dates back to 92 years ago.

We’re addicted to watching old cars being washed, detailed and cleaned up. Many of these videos have been shared with professionals detailers just doing their job. While we have seen many classic cars take their first bath in years, today’s guest is the oldest. It was born in 1929, and has seen many changes over its life.

AMMO NYC was invited to wash a Ford Model A. The video at the top shows the rescue of the vehicle that had been abandoned for eight years in Connecticut. Ted, the vehicle’s owner, was joined by the detailing experts who pulled the car out of the trees. After a few minor repairs, the 92-year old Ford engine started up and was ready for transport to the detailing shop.

Let’s first clarify that this isn’t an original Model A. We are using the Model A and the Model T to base it. It was built by hand without the use of any existing transformation kits. The transformation cost approximately $20, which is equivalent to about $400 today.

The main goal is not to completely restore the vehicle, but to give it an intensive wash and to apply a protective layer to slow down the rust. It will still be able to last for about 100 more years, you know. We are particularly happy that the owner decided to give this Model A the wash it needs and Larry from AMMO NYC is the perfect specialist to do so.

“I think this is amazing. The concept is great, the idea is brilliant, and the owner plans to reuse it again. Larry stated that he was very excited. This video is another gem. It shows a washing method that we have never seen before: washing with a Scotch Brite.
