The will replace the 3.0-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine with the 3.0-liter turbocharged twin-scroll turbocharged three-cylinder inline-six. Although it may not sound like much, both engines produce 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft torque respectively. BMW claims that the new engine will provide better throttle response and fuel efficiency.

The 135i will also be available with an optional double-clutch transmission (DCT) of 7-speeds. The 135i features dedicated paddles to upshift (left paddle), and downshift (right paddle), as well as an e-shifter console-mounted.

The updated 135i will be arriving in US dealerships starting this spring.
