After owners complain about heat problems, updates are made.
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is hot thanks to its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that produces 650 horsepower. Some customers find it way too hot.
Chevrolet will therefore update the 2017 with new cooling components in order to keep the LT4 engine on track.
Tadge Juechter is the Corvette executive chief engineer. He says that some customers experienced heatsoak and overheating issues while running their Z06s very hard. Juechter stated that the exact number could have been less then five percent, though drivers voiced their concern. Updates will be coming this fall as part of Juechter’s engineering team’s focus on “continual improvements.”
Chevrolet will be updating the Z06’s hood for 2017 with new cooling vents and other modifications “for additional cooling at the track”. Chevrolet will provide more details later in the year.
The Z06 production is currently suspended to allow Chevrolet’s Bowling Green factory in Kentucky to produce the first batch Corvette Grand Sports. Production will resume this fall with the Z06.
