Chrysler registered the Trackhawk name last autumn and it seems it will be used in a high-performance Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Car & Driver sources claim that the 2017 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will essentially rename the Grand Cherokee RRT. The model will be powered by the familiar 6.4-liter HEMI HEMI V8 engine, which produces 475 horsepower (354 kW) as well as 470 lbft (637Nm) of torque. The current model can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4.8 seconds and then reach a maximum speed of 160 mph (257 km/h).
The Trackhawk will be available with the supercharged V8 engine of the Dodge Charger or Challenger. Although the engine produces 707 horsepower (527 kW) as well as 650 lbft (880Nm) of torque, engineers seem to be having trouble coping with the Grand Cherokee’s power. They might need to limit torque output electronically or eliminate the four-wheel drive system entirely.
