As a throwback, the original RS4 Avant was painted in Nogaro blue.
Audi Sport will be showcasing two world premieres in Frankfurt. After seeing the R8 V10 RWS rear-wheel-drive, it is now that the time has come for the new RS4 Avant. The full-blown RS version will solve your exterior styling issues with the S4 Avant. It features larger air vents and oval exhaust tips. A new roof-mounted spoiler also sets it apart from the smaller model.
Audi says the design of the eagerly awaited RS4 Avant is inspired by the famous 90 quattro IMSA GTO racing car. It also pays homage to 1999’s first generation model with a similar Nogaro paint. It will only be available through Audi Exclusive and it will cost quite a lot.
The fast wagon is powered by a biturbo 2.9 liter V6 engine, borrowed from the RS5 Coupe. It produces a healthy 450 horsepower (331 kilowatts), and 443 pound feet (600 Newton-meters), of torque. Turbocharging has allowed for a significant increase in torque, which has increased by 125 lb-ft (170 nm) despite the fact that the horsepower has not changed from the previous generation.
It takes just 4.1 seconds for the car to sprint to 62 MPH (100 KPH) and can reach an electronically controlled speed of 155 MPH (250 KPH). Audi offers the option of an optional RS dynamic package, which will increase the maximum speed to 174 mph (228 kph).
The new RS4 Avant, like all other Audi Sport models, has a Quattro all wheel drive. The eight-speed tiptronic transmission is the only way power is transferred. A rear-mounted differential can be purchased at an additional charge. The performance wagon is seven millimeters (0.3 in) closer to the road then the A4 Avant. It has 19-inch wheels with an optional 20-inch set.
The new RS4 Avant weighs 80 kg (176 pounds) less than the model it replaces. It is 3,946 pounds (1 790 kilograms) lighter than the previous model. The interior is largely unchanged from the RS5 Coupe. It includes the RS trinkets and the amazing digital Audi Virtual Cockpit. There are many styling options available, as well as numerous customization options through the Audi Exclusive program.
Audi Europe will open its order books later in the fall. The RS4 Avant will be available at dealers by early 2018. Germany will be the first country to receive the car. Prices start at EUR79,800.
