Bentley’s 2+2 grand tourer is a muscular, lean vehicle. The camouflage of body colors can’t disguise the shape of this new 2-plus-2. The vehicle appears smaller than the EXP10 Speed 6. It also has a steeper roofline, creating dramatic sides. The concept is clearly evident in the LED headlights. We have stickers covering the taillights that hide the design. However, we expect to see an adaptation of EXP 10’s slim oval-shaped clusters.
The new Bentley Continental GT, which rides on the MSB platform will share a lot with Porsche’s 2017 Panamera. The new architecture will result in a significant weight loss. A current-gen W12 model, weighing 5,115lbs (2,320 kg), is exactly what we expected.
It is the same prototype we saw earlier in the year. We checked the license plate and discovered that it had a biturbo 6.0-liter under its hood. It’s likely the same version that powers the Bentley Bentayga SUV, which produces 600 horsepower (447kilowatts), and 664 poundfeet (6900 newton metres) of torque. However, the new Continental GT could produce a different output. The Volkswagen Group stated that the 600-hp W12 variant was only a preview of what was to come with stronger versions.
The all-new Bentley Continental GT brake covers will be available in the second half 2017. Although a prototype of the EXP 10 Speed 6 has been confirmed already, it will not be available in the near future because Bentley plans to launch a subBentayga SUV. Following next year’s previewing concepts, the smaller high-riding model will be available in 2018. The production EXP 10 Speed 6 is expected to arrive around 2020.
