2019 Toyota RAV4: Check Out The Side-By-Side Changes

2019 Toyota RAV4: Check Out The Side-By-Side ChangesWhat does the new RAV4 look like compared to the FTAC concept? You can see it for yourself.

The Toyota RAV4 has a new look for 2019. The New York Auto Show will see the debut of the small SUV. It features a 2.5-liter Inline-four engine and an advanced all-wheel drive system. You can choose from a standard combustion model with an eight-speed auto or a hybrid with a CVT. The RAV4 has seen significant improvements inside and outside. But the most noticeable changes are on the exterior.

Toyota says the SUV will get a new look that is both exciting and refined. This design draws inspiration from the Tacoma pickup as well as the FT-AC concept, which we saw last year at Los Angeles Auto Show. Its new styling is striking and well-suited for life on the road or off. Here are the comparisons between the FT-AC and production RAV4 models.

Front

Toyota calls the new RAV4 “chiseled” and describes it as a “perfect mixture of athleticism, charisma, and intelligence.” Particularly the Adventure model has the most “chiseled”, styling. The front fascia is almost identical to the original concept. It features six-sided grilles, sharp, angular headlights and an embedded fog light. There’s also a lower accent trim with embedded lights and a silver skid pad. You might not be able tell the difference at first glance.

Back

It’s also easy to recognize the RAV4’s rear end. The original concept’s angles are almost identical. This includes the unique shaped taillights and diffuser, as well as the raked back window. Toyota will add or remove silver cladding depending on which trim you choose. It’s a compelling look, even if it isn’t too edgy.

Side

Side profile is the most significant change from concept to production. The RAV4 has the same bumpers and wheels as the original, but the FTAC concept was much sleeker and had a steeper roofline. It may also have been due to the lack of door handles. It’s not difficult to see the similarities between the vehicles, as they look nearly identical.

Interior

Although Toyota didn’t give us a glimpse inside the FT-AC prototype, it is easy to see how the interior of the new RAV4 has been updated in comparison to the previous model. The new 7.0-inch tablet-style touchscreen is located in the center. An optional 8.0-inch screen is also available. There are more high-quality materials scattered throughout. Toyota claims the new design provides better ergonomics.
