Cadillac’s new vehicle is designed to challenge the three-row crossover market.
The 2020 Cadillac XT6 aims at capturing the heart of the three row crossover SUV segment. The XT6 is located below the large, frame-on-frame Escalade from the Cadillac line. It rides on a car-like, unibody chassis.
The newest Cadillac will be a hit with luxury-minded consumers who want more space in their vehicle. The XT6’s conservative styling and mediocre 3.6-liter V6 engine make it a less exciting vehicle than many of its rivals. The Caddy’s more than 300 horsepower engine with its nine-speed automatic transmission will still move it with respectable pep.
The interior of the XT6 has a mixed bag, just like the exterior. The interior of the XT6 is a mix of high-quality materials and busy details that creates an experience in-cabin that lacks cohesion.
The Cadillac excels in technology, including a wireless charging pad of 15 watts, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay compatibility and Android Auto compatibility, as well as near-field communication for compatible phones. Cadillac’s semi-autonomous Super Cruise driving system is missing.
Buyers will still be satisfied with standard features like a forward collision warning with an automated emergency braking system and blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alarm, as well as lane-keeping assistance. If you are looking for more active safety features, an adaptive cruise control system can be added, as well as a surround-view camera and night vision, and a heads-up display.
Cadillac will open its order books for XT6 this spring. Sales are expected to follow shortly.
