All models except the base are equipped with the 11.6-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screens.
The 2020 Subaru Legacy The debut at the Chicago Auto Show Only a teaser of the new design was released. Subie’s seventh-generation midsize sedan will be available to dealers in the Base, Premium and Sport trims.
The biggest update to the Legacy’s engine is the availability of a turbocharged version. This is the first turbocharged engine since 2012. Subie’s 2.4 liter turbo flat-four engine powers the XT trims. It produces the same 260 horsepower as the powerplant in the Ascent. The only choice for a gearbox is a CVT. According to the company, the sprint from 0 to 60 miles takes 6.1 seconds. Fuel economy is expected at 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway.
A 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine of 182 horsepower and 176 lb.ft is also available in the Legacy. The Legacy is also available with a CVT. The Subaru predicts a fuel economy of 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
The Subaru Global Platform is the platform that drives the seventh-gen Legacy. It provides an increase in body stiffness and contributes to a three decibel quieter cabin on highway speeds. A lower center of gravity means that the sedan has better steering response and handling.
Designers have redesigned the Legacy’s styling to make it more modern. They also completely overhauled the cabin. The new 11.6-inch portrait-oriented infotainment display dominates the middle stack in the Premium, Sport, and Limited trims. This same display is available in the Touring, but it has navigation. The base models have two screens of seven inches that divide the HVAC and infotainment controls. You have access to many connectivity options, including an auxiliary Jack, two 12-volt DC outlets and four USB ports, two in the front and two back.
All models come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology suite. The adaptive cruise now features a Lane Centering Function that provides small steering inputs to maintain the vehicle’s lane. Subie offers the Driver Focus Ditraction Mitigation System, an optional option on Limited trims and standard on XT trims. This system monitors fatigue levels behind the wheel with a camera. Front View Monitor is available on the Touring XT. It uses the cameras to monitor forward blind spots and displays the view on the infotainment screen.
