It’s a digital revolution.
An automaker that has a vehicle as popular and well-known as the Volkswagen Golf should be concerned if there is a major change. These spy photos of the next-gen Golf do not indicate that there is cause to be concerned. In fact, Wolfsburg’s designers are keeping the hatchback’s exterior design very conservative. These spy photos show the interior in vivid color, which is a totally different story.
As we have shown, the timeline of these spy photos is very interesting. Here are a few teaser images from VW The hatchback’s digital interior was revealed less than 24 hours after this posting. The Golf R currently has a digital cluster, but it will also be available in other trims for the next-generation. The new photos are almost identical to the teaser sketches. The instrument screen and center infotainment screens share the same horizontal space in redesigned dash.
There are far fewer buttons than expected – most functions will move to the touchscreen. However, we can see an additional touch slider below the center screen that controls the temperature. Although the exact specs of this Golf are not known, the small tires and manual transmission indicate that it is on the lower end of the spectrum. VW has stated that it is taking its compact SUV to new heights, as revealed by the automaker at its Annual General Meeting.
The new Golf will retain its familiar exterior shape, with the most notable changes being made to the front fascia. These changes will be fully realized in September when VW will unveil the next-generation Golf.
