It seems to be larger than the previous model.
Only a few days ago, fully-revealing images of Acura TLX were made public via the Patent Office. Now the MDX is being leaked in the exact same manner. The images were published on the French forums Worldscoop. They are believed to have been taken from the European Union Intellectual Property Office, where the next-generation TLX was also found last week.
We have already seen the TLX, MDX and future Acura models twice before. The RDX’s infotainment system had both the TLX as well as the MDX almost a year ago. Honda’s premium division stated that the designs were conceptual renderings and not actual road-going models. However, the production models seem to be almost identical.
Although it might not be very appealing at first glance, the history of patent images has shown us that they don’t do cars justice. The MDX is shown in this grayish hue. This doesn’t give a true picture of the vehicle. We hope that larger wheels will be made available for the MDX , as these appear a little small. The fourth-gen model looks larger than it does in the grayish shade. Also, the hood appears longer.
You may recall that spy photos from July 2019 showed a prototype with quad exhaust tips, indicating that a Type S variant was in the works. The new six-cylinder turbocharged engine will power the range topper. It is connected to the company’s torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive, (SH-AWD). The Acura brand’s new powertrain will be the only one of its kind. It is said to have a 3.0-liter displacement with well over 300 horsepower.
The official unveiling of the MDX as well as the TLX will take place in the coming months. They will be available for purchase in the United States in 2021. We’ve seen both the 2016 Precision Concept and the 2019 TypeS concept. Now we want to see how Acura’s new styling language will translate into cars that people can actually buy.
