2021 Ford Bronco Goes Real Rock Crawling on Rubicon Trail

The icon returning to power wants to take over its opponent’s territory.

Hardcore off-roading is what the Ford Bronco was built for, and it hasn’t changed for the sixth-generation model. The Blue Oval is proud to keep that tradition, as opposed to its reborn Golden Bow Tie counterpart, which is now a crossover. But I digress.

Ford had already begun testing the new Bronco off-road prototypes before it was officially launched. The iconic Ford Bronco is back in the real world. It’s time for some off-road action.

2021 Ford Bronco Goes Real Rock Crawling on Rubicon Trail

Bronco6g.com user Volkswaben shared a glimpse of a testing event that included both four- and two-door Bronco models. Where? California’s Rubicon Trail. The Rubicon Trail in California is 22 miles long. This trail was actually the inspiration for the Wrangler, Bronco’s Jeep archrival (along with the Gladiator), trim level.

Volkswaben took photos of the event and also provided videos. How did the four-door Bronco fare? Let’s just say it needs a better driver.

The videos clearly showed that the Bronco was not following the correct path when approaching one point on the difficult trail. Also, the tires appear to be inflated at a higher pressure than what is necessary for this climb. This should impact traction in such a situation. We think the rocks are too slippery, but this shouldn’t be a reason to ignore them.

You would be the judge in any case. Watch the video of the rock climb , and here. We would love to hear your thoughts.
