2021 Ford F-150 Digital manual Saves the Equivalent Of 122 Trucks in Paper

This is approximately 290 tons of paper. Each year!

The Ford F-Series topped the list of the most-sold vehicles in America in 2019, with 896,526 units sold. The F-150 is the most popular vehicle in the United States, and it has received a good portion of these deliveries since its 2021 model year. Every new car comes with a manual, which is usually a book of a few hundred pages.

Doing the math quickly will show you how many pages and books Ford must produce each year for the F-150. Ford estimates that the F-150 manuals are able to waste approximately 290 tons. If you make that easier to read, it’s equivalent to about 122 F150 trucks. This is a lot of paper.

This is a serious problem. This is a problem that Ford hopes to solve with the 2021 edition. A digital version of the manual will be made available for all 2021 F150 models and versions. This is a first step in the right direction. It is included in the standard equipment of the F-150’s SYNC infotainment systems.

This is not the main selling point of the truck. Customers in this segment are looking for power, towing ratings and (probably) offroad capabilities. The F-150 offers good answers. It has six engines to choose from, a payload rating between 1,810 to 2,120 pounds and towing capacities ranging between 11,000 and 12,700 lbs.

As a reminder, there are four engines available for the 2021 F-150: a naturally aspirated V6, a naturally aspirated V8, a 3.0-liter turbodieselV6, and 2.7- to 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6s. There is also arguably 3.5-liter hybrid V6. A Raptor version and an all-electric version are in development.
