2021 Hyundai Alcazar Breaks Cover As New Three-Row SUV

The new SUV, which is similar to the Santa Fe and Palisade can hold up to seven people.

Hyundai has reaffirmed its commitment to minivans with the launch of the futuristic-looking Staria. This is despite declining sales. The South Korean brand is aware that there are more opportunities in the SUV market and has launched a three-row model called “Alcazar”, to satisfy India’s desire for sport utility vehicles.

It is based on the Creta crossover, which has five seats. The wheelbase can be stretched to accommodate the third row. It measures 2,760 millimeters (106.6 inches) between the axles, or 150mm (5.9 inches) more than the Creta. The rear seats are comfortable thanks to the slightly longer rear overhang.

Although the doors, hood and front fenders are all the same as the smaller brother, Hyundai gave the grille a new look by adding a glittery pattern. New rear quarter glass and chunkier taillights reflect Alcazar’s larger footprint. The vehicle’s SUV-like nature is highlighted by the faux-brushed aluminum skid plates at its front and rear.

The cabin has seen the most significant changes. You can order the Alcazar with a six-seat layout. In this case, the second row will have a pair captain’s chairs. A seven-seat version is also available with bench seating in its middle. Both configurations have one-touch access to the rearmost seats and fold down the second row.

The new Hyundai Alcazar offers a high level of equipment. It has a touchscreen 10.25 inches, a panoramic sunroof and wireless charging. For extra storage, the third-row seats can be folded down completely and have a split layout of 50:50.

The engine’s 2.0-liter gasoline motor produces 157 horsepower and torque of 192 Newton-meters (142 pounds-feet). This is enough to achieve a 0-60 mph (100 km/h), run in less than 10 seconds. A 1.5-liter turbodiesel is also available, rated at 113 horsepower and 250 Nm (184lb-ft). They can both be connected to either a manual six-speed transmission or an automatic with the exact number of gears.

The Hyundai Alcazar will go on sale next month in India. It will be up against stiff competition from the Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus.
