2021 Lexus Shows Off Bold Concept Car To Preview Brand Vision

New Year, new Lexus

At the beginning of December, Lexus gave us the first glimpse at its new electric vehicle concept. Now Toyota’s luxury division has a second peek. The original teaser showed the vehicle’s front fascia. However, the new shadowy photo shows the vehicle’s rear end. We’ve increased the brightness to reveal more details about the design.

We also see a nicely integrated spoiler lip, and slim LED taillights that are arranged horizontally. This design element has been popularized in recent years, and it remains to be seen if this car will get one. We are impressed by the muscular rear bumper with its wide hips. The low horizontal bar, which vaguely resembles an air intake, is also intriguing.

Although Lexus has not yet revealed the shape of its concept car, it seems to be large due to the impressive front and rear ends. Although we are hoping for a more compact sedan or coupe, rather than an SUV, this will open the door to a new direction for the Japanese marque. The world premiere of the new wave will take place in 2021.

The concept car will be unveiled sometime in spring and features what appears to be a central fin that divides the rear glass into two. The roof has a slight recess at the center that runs from front to back. Although we are secretly hoping for gullwing doors to be introduced, there is no evidence. We’re hoping that the LF-30 concept presented in October 2019 featured them.

The Direct4 electric system, which is compatible with both pure EVs as well as hybrids, will be at the heart of Lexus’ new luxurious showcar. To signal a new approach to styling, the company previously described the car as an electric-only design concept.
