Math begins at $184,900
The new Mercedes Maybach S-Class was unveiled by Mercedes in November 2020. Now, the luxury barge is finally being priced. The stately sedan with the double M logo is priced at $184,900 plus $1.050 delivery and destination charges. This premium price tag puts it ahead of the -powered S-Class in base Luxury Line trim, which costs $68,600.
The latest Maybach sedan comes with plenty of features, including rear-wheel steering that can adjust to up to 10 degrees and a Burmester surround system with 30 speakers. The seven-inch extra wheelbase over the “mundane Benz S-Class” gives you great legroom back, where there is a standard rear-seat entertainment system with dual screen, a removable tablet and two wireless headsets.
Air suspension is available from the beginning, and a frontal airbag is provided for the rear seats in case of an accident. Like other luxury cars, the Maybach S-Class offers more than just a long list of equipment. The materials are top-quality and leather is everywhere. VIP seats have built-in footrests that offer – wait for this – calf massage.
The Benz S-Class comes with an inline-six engine starting at $109,800 for the S500. However, the Maybach can only be ordered in the S580 specification with a larger v8. As in the Benz S580, the twin-turbo 4.0 liter produces 496 horsepower and 516 poundfeet (706 Newton-meters), of torque. Mercedes confirmed that the V12 is available but more details will be revealed at a later time.
The 2021 Maybach S580 will be available to US dealers in the middle of next year. The fully electric 2022 Maybach S580, a Mercedes full-size luxury sedan, will be available soon. It features a huge 56-inch hyperscreen that is not found on any S-Class models.
